POLICE are warning residents about the dangers of setting off fireworks in public following several incidents in Test Valley.

Officers say they have received three reports of youths setting off fireworks in public on Sunday 16 October.

They were set off at Cupernham Infant school, Romsey Memorial park and Abbotswood nature reserve.

A spokesperson for Hampshire Police said: "Misusing fireworks in areas such as parks is extremely dangerous, not just for the youths but also to the public.

"Patrols will be in place as well as contact to the local schools asking for their support on educating pupils on firework safety.

"Please report any further incidences that you see.

"If you are able to, please make a note of descriptions, however please do not put yourself in danger to do so."
