HUNDREDS of residents are expected to line to streets for the start of the Romsey Carnival this evening.
Kicking off the annual event will be the Around the Town races at 7pm today.
These consist of beds, go karts and wheelbarrows racing a fixed course of roads surrounding the Market Place. The races have been sponsored by Rownhams Bed Centre and David Wilson Homes.
The races will start in the Market Place, then charge to the Abbey, before passing the front of the Abbey and going down Church Street. They will then go through Lortemore Place, Latimer Street, The Hundred, The Cornmarket and Bell Street before finishing in The Market Place.
All roads leading to The Market Place will be closed to through traffic from 6.30pm and are due to re-open at 9pm.
After the races, Romsey Old Cadets will be entertaining the crowds in The Market Place.
Then tomorrow, the Summer Quiz Night takes place at The Conservative Club starting from 8pm. Teams of four competing for prizes sponsored by David Wilson Homes. An entry fee of £5 per team is payable.
Finally. on Sunday July 23, the Summer Procession takes place.
