THOUSANDS of people gathered for a festival in celebration of youth music in Romsey.

Taking place in the market town’s Memorial Park the Youth Music Festival included live music, Zorb balls and bungee trampolines. Face painting, games and stalls.

The 8th annual family friendly event was held by Youth in Romsey.

Youth in Romsey is a support centre for people aged six and 25 years old.

The service supports those people to find employment, education, counselling, health and also mental health concerns.

It has recently celebrated its first year in its new premises located in Southampton Road (by The Romsey Rapids) and works with over 100 different individuals each month.

Event organiser Jenny Grace said; “The day could not have gone ahead without the support of our young volunteers who help run the day. Thanks to this – we hope to put on an even bigger and better festival next year.”

This year’s event saw its largest ever attendance, attracting more than 3,000 people.

Manager of Youth in Romsey, Wendy Herbert, added: “The youth festival was started as a place where young people could go which was alcohol free and where young musicians could perform. The event has since grown into a more community festival – enjoyed by people of all ages.”

All of the money raised through running stalls and donations on the day will go towards putting on the same event next year
