RAILWAYS services heading to London Waterloo are facing severe disruption after reports that two trains collided.
Journeys between Vauxhall and Waterloo will be cancelled, delayed or revised and disruption is expected until the end of the day.
South West Trains says the incident was a "low speed derailment" and admitted that services could be disrupted until the end of service on Wednesday, August 16.
Travellers were told to avoid Waterloo station all day because of a points failure and a passenger train derailing after hitting a Network Rail engineering wagon at around 5:40 am.
A South West Trains statement says: "We are sorry for the disruption to your journey this morning.
"Other services are conveying passengers via any reasonable route until further notice.
"Arrangements have been made for South West Trains rail tickets to be accepted for these journeys.
"You may use London Transport buses to complete your journey between any South West Trains stations.
"Trains from Southampton Central (via Winchester) and Basingstoke (via Farnborough) towards London Waterloo will be cancelled."
London Ambulance Service said it had checked over three people following the "derailment", adding: "Thankfully they did not need to go to hospital."
