IT’S that time of year again, when the festive season starts to get into full swing.

Now locals are being sought after to take part in the 2017 instalment of the David Wilson Homes Winter Procession, that will be taking place in the town on November 25.

The popular annual event includes the switching on of the Christmas lights.

The procession will assemble in the Crosfield Hall car park before judging of the two categories takes place. The category winners will receive prizes and the overall winner will receive the Len Fry Challenge Cup. Judging, by Test Valley Mayor and Deputy Mayor, will take place from 5.30pm.

The procession will move off at 6.15pm and with the Switch-On taking place shortly after. The route is Broadwater Road, Palmerston Street, The Hundred, Market Place, Bell Street and Broadwater Road finishing back in the car park. The car park will be closed from 4pm until 8pm. The Carnival Committee will not accept responsible for any damage done to vehicles parked in this car park between 4pm and 8pm. Any vehicle left in the car park after 4pm may have difficulty in getting out.

Road closures will come into operation from 5.30pm.

Donation buckets, that will be at the event, encourages locals to donate unwanted old-style £1 coins, which are no longer accepted as legal tender.

Entry forms can be obtained from the carnival web site or Kutz in Latimer Street.

The week prior to the event, a “Fun and Friendly” quiz night takes place on November 22. The quiz starts at 8pm at The Comrades Club, Romsey. A fee of £5 per team of four is payable.
