THEY’VE been waiting patiently for two years but now staff at Paulton’s Park have welcomed the arrival of a fluffy friend.
Custard is the longed-for flamingo chick who finally completes the sweet pick ‘n’ mix pair alongside feathered friend Rhubarb.
In 2015, Paultons Park welcomed young chick Rhubarb to its growing flamingo flock and since his arrival the park has yearned to complete the classic sweet combination. The dedicated livestock team has announced that Custard hatched in September and at just four weeks old she already roams confidently around the enclosure and paddles in the pool.
Although flamingo chicks weigh less than 95g, it is likely that Custard will grow to a height of up to 120cm and weight of 3kg.
As a small chick, Custard’s beak remains straighter than many other Chilean flamingos, with the characteristic downturn of the beak expected to happen at 10-12 weeks.
Although flamingo chicks appear very small and weigh less than 95g, it is likely that they will grow to heights of up to 120cm whilst reaching more than 3kg in weight.
