AN INQUEST has been opened into the death of a much-loved grandad who died after a crash on the A3090 last month.
Colin Wedderburn, 87, of Riverside Gardens, Romsey, died in hospital three days after the car he was in, a Toyota, collided with a Honda on January 22.
Both the driver of the Honda, a 26-year-old from Marchwood, and the backseat passenger, a 29-year-old man from Totton, suffered serious injuries and were also taken to Southampton General Hospital. The front-seat passenger, a 21-year-old woman, also suffered minor injuries.
Mr Wedderburn was well known in Romsey for helping in the abbey as a steward and an active Rotarian and president of the local Probus Society, having been a long-standing businessman.
An inquest will be held on June 4.
