A ROMSEY film-maker has won the support of famous novelist Stephen King for his new movie.

Oliver Ridge, who grew up in Romsey and is a former Embley Park School pupil, works in Los Angeles as a producer for an American production company.

His new film, The Neighbour, stars Prison Break and The Dark Knight actor William Fichtner, and has been supported by the novelist, who has written works such as IT, The Shining and Carrie.

The author supported the film to his almost ten million followers on Twitter and Facebook.

Oliver, 30, is a producer at production company Blood Moon Creative, and said he was overwhelmed by the recommendation.

He said: "Stephen King is a legend in my household, so I was overwhelmed that our film won praise for someone of that calibre – I had a bit of a freak-out!

"I'm glad that Stephen liked the movie and especially that he recognised William Fichtner's extraordinary performance. It was a joy to come in every day and watch him work. We have seen in some huge films but never in a role like this."

The Neighbour, previously titled Last Days of Summer, is Oliver's first feature film, and won the Rhode Island International Film Festival in 2016.

The former Romsey resident was also voted one of the top British talents in LA two years ago by the Los Angeles arm of BAFTA.

The 30-year-old studied and graduated at Vancouver Film School.
