WITH it's wide main street, one of the widest high streets in the county, Stockbridge is an old market town and farmer "rotten" borough in the parliamentary sense.

This air photograph shows the view looking towards Station Bridge at the top and with Test Bridge at the bottom.

Stockbridge means trout to many people with fine fish often caught in the Test not far from the bridge in this image.

The borough has many historical links to the past - including the Town Hall with its turret clock which can be seen to the right of High Street

On the left is St Peter's Church, part of which dates back to the no latter than the 12th century.

At the end of High Street is now a roundabout, which doesn't appear to have been the case 68 years ago when the aerial snap was taken.
