SIR – So what part of my letter dated 25th May, did John Palk of Halterworth disagree with? letter As stated, I said that the traffic lights had helped the flow and safety of traffic, at the Braishfield to Winchester Road junction.
I never said that lights were a better option than a roundabout.
Having been in some of the hold ups at Botley Road, and the Plaza Theatre roundabouts, I know which I prefer. And on the matter of pedestrians using the crossing – why not have the provision for them in place? It only needs one person to be injured, or is Mr Palk so much in a rush, that he cannot wait a few moments for the lights to change?
Before the lights were installed, there was probably more pollution and frustration, with traffic trying to get onto the Winchester Road than now.
