IS ROMSEY home to the UK’s hottest vegan?

Focusing on inner rather than exterior beauty is what animal charity PETA’s annual competition, ‘The UK’s Hottest Vegan’ is aimed at.

PETA whose motto reads, ‘animals are not ours to eat’ have held the competition for the past three years.

Now, Romsey resident Kimberly Goddard, is a finalist in the running for the title of the ‘hottest’ vegan.

Elisa Allen, PETA director said: “There’s nothing sexier than someone who is committed to helping animals and the environment, and it doesn’t hurt that vegans are, on average, healthier and more energetic than their meat-eating peers.

“Each one of the finalists in PETA’s contest is a living example of the strength and vitality that can come from vegan eating.”

This year’s male and female winner will be announced by next Thursday.

Romsey has seen an influx of vegan activity in recent months, with the town’s first ever vegan fair in January.

Since then, Amanda and Ruby Watkins have organised a number of events across the town.

Kimberley will be against fellow Hampshire contestant Matthew Parkin, 26, from Hedge End.

The sea navigation officer said: “If I can convince one more person to try veganism as a result of participating in this competition then that’s good news for them, the animals and the planet. With at least half a million vegans in the UK, I’m chuffed to make the final.”
