Tytherley inn taps in to WaterAid
CUSTOMERS at the Star Inn, East Tytherley, are being charged for tap water!
Since early July, they've been encouraged to make a donation to WaterAid when they are provided with a glass or jug of tap water.
"Tapping into WaterAid is a simple, inspired way for us and our customers to help bring water to the 1.1 billion people worldwide who have no access to safe drinking water," says proprietor, Lesley Newitt.
"A suggested sum is added to the bill in return for table water and all donations are passed on to WaterAid to fund life-saving water, sanitation and hygiene projects in the developing world.
"People have been very supportive. It's so easy for all of us to take tap water for granted here in the UK, but our customers have been happy to pay a contribution when they know it helps give clean drinking water to those less fortunate than themselves.
"WaterAid says it costs just £15 to bring safe water, sanitation and hygiene education to someone in poverty and the momentum we could create could change a life."
