POLICE are investigating a spate of heating oil thefts in the Sombornes.

Fuel thieves took heating oil worth about £9,000 from a storage tank at Up Somborne between 5pm on January 31 and 2.30pm on February 1.

Police community support officer, Sophie Downie, said: “There have been three other incidents reported in the Up, Little and King’s Somborne area over the past few days.

Raiders targeted an address at Furzedown Road in King’s Somborne between 10am on January 29 and 7am the following morning and got away with around 1,000 litres of oil.

Oil, valued at £225, was also stolen from a property in Little Somborne on January 29.

Around 1,000 litres of oil was stolen from another property in Up Somborne between January 29 and the 31.

PCSO Downie asked for the public help: “I would also like to hear from anyone who may have seen any vehicles such as tankers or vehicles capable of carrying large quantities of fuel, in the area. No matter how small or insignificant your information may seem, please get in touch and tell us what you know as you may be able to help us find the person or people responsible.”
