IT was all too much for a legal duo from the University of Winchester when they won a national competition recently.

Amy Gallagher and Rebecca Clark saw off seven other student teams, all regional winners, to take the National Client Interviewing title at the University of Cardiff.

Rebecca Clark, from Botley, said: “I was so full of adrenaline from the interviews and the nerve-racking experience of hearing the runners up being called that when I heard 'Team F, University of Winchester', I just burst into tears.”

On March 2, students from law schools across England and Wales were assessed through mock interviews and role plays.

Helen James, the university's head of law, said: “I am absolutely thrilled. It is unprecedented for a law department entering a competition for the first time to have such a phenomenal success.”

The pair will now go on to the Brown-Mosten International Client Consultation Competition in Glasgow from April 3 to 6.
