10:34am Friday 9th August 2013 in Winchester
HAMPSHIRE firefighters rescued a motorist yesterday (Aug 9) after she was trapped in her car following a collision with a tree.
The crash happened on the A33 north of Winchester at the junction with Church Bank Road, East Stratton at around 7.45pm.
Hydraulic cutters and electric saws were used to cut the young woman out of her blue Rover Metro.
Firefighter Matt Hayfield, of Winchester Fire Station, said: “It was quite a technical and complicated operation and we were out there for about an hour and 20 minutes freeing her.”
She was taken to Royal Hampshire County Hospital but her injuries are not thought to be serious.
Two appliances from Winchester attended, including a special equipment unit, along with one appliance from Alresford.
