Winchester teacher raises £1,000 in charity skydive
12:20pm Tuesday 8th October 2013 in Winchester
A FRENCH teacher from a Winchester school has raised over £1,000 for charity by skydiving.
Caro Bewes, from St Swithun’s School, jumped from 15,000 feet in a tandem parachute jump to raise money for St Katherine’s School in Lira in northern Uganda.
Ms Bewes said: “This is something I have always wanted to do but hadn’t had a reason to until now. Travelling at 120mph through the clouds is an unforgettable experience which I enjoyed every minute of."
Ms Bewes’s jumped, after taking off at the Old Sarum airfield in Salisbury, as part of the school-wide campaign called Legging it for Lira.
The campaign has seen teachers and students walk, run, row, swim, cycle and ride on horseback to cover 6,000 miles in 12 hours, which has raised over £20,000 so far.
