More arrests in hunt for Winchester footpath muggers

FOUR teenagers have been arrested over a mugging of a student in Winchester. They are today being questioned by police, said a spokeswoman this afternoon. Police arrested a 15-year-old boy from Basingstoke on suspicion of robbery and a youth aged 17 and a 19-year-old man from Winchester on suspicion of conspiracy to commit robbery. A 16-year-old boy from Winchester has been rearrested for alleged robbery. The incident happened on Saturday, September 21 at around 9pm when a 19-year-old man was approached by two men as he walked along the footpath from Cromwell Road towards St James’ Lane close to the university campus in West Hill. The men threatened the victim and stole his iPhone and some cash. Anyone with information is asked to call the Priority Crime Team at Winchester police station on 101 or the anonymous Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.
