A CHRISTMAS party to help people in the Philippines is to be held in Otterbourne later this week.

Members of the local Filipino community have organised the event which in the village hall on Sunday (December 22) to raise funds following typhoon Haiyan.

Organiser Agnes Sitjar, of Badger Farm, said: “The proceeds of the Filipino Christmas party will go to the Community of the Benedictine Sisters, who have lost their schools, convent and hospitals in Tacloban in Leyte.

“By donating money directly to this charity, we know that it will immediately get put into use aiding victims.”

The event starts at 7pm and tickets cost £10 each. The price includes all food, soft drinks and entertainment. Anyone wanting an alcohol beverage is welcome to bring their own.

A raffle will be drawn on the night and all donations for prizes will be gratefully received.
