RESIDENTS across Winchester are waking up this morning to the aftermath of storms that have swept the county.

Fire crews have reported ‘an extremely busy night’, logging more than 1,000 calls across Hampshire.

Falling trees have caused problems for commuters across the district and bus services have been disrupted by flooded roads.

Badger Farm Road has been affected by the flooding and police are re-routing traffic via the motorway, while Garnier Road is also closed.

The A334 is closed in both directions near Church Road due to a fallen tree and crews are currently working to remove it.

The A3090 between Ampfield and Hursley is strewn with bracken and some parts of the road have been limited to a single lane as a result of trees in the road. Part of Petty Priest Copse has flooded.

The B3047 at Itchen Abbas is blocked due to a fallen tree causing problems for those travelling between East and West Meon.

There have been reports of a tree having fallen at the entrance to the Premier Way Industrial Estate, accessed by the A27 Romsey Road roundabout. People are asked to use the other entrance.

The severe weather also brought power cuts, with residents in Monarch Way reporting an outage at around 11pm last night. It has also been reported that 10 sets of traffic lights are out of action.

Thousands of commuters have been severely delayed amid reports of trees and bracken on the railway tracks. South West Trains have confirmed most services have now resumed but no services were available before 10am.

Residents in Badger Farm are having problems with travel as Stagecoach has confirmed the number 5 is unable to operate. However the number 69 has resumed its normal route.
