A NEW support group is starting in Eastleigh next month.

The newtork is for people affected by dementia and their friends, family and carers.

The group will meet at One Community and the launch is on Thursday, February 27, when the group will meet between2-4pm.

Thereafter meetings will be on the third Thursday of the month at the same times.

The group is a joint initiative of One Community’s Carers Centre, Andover MIND and the Princess Royal Trust for Carers in Hampshire.

Meanwhile the Eastleigh Carers Centre is looking for volunteers to visit carers in the area on a one-to-one basis, usually in their own homes. Volunteer visitors provide companionship and emotional support to carers, who often find it difficult to get out and about because of their responsibilities. Volunteers will receive initial induction and training, and travel expenses will be reimbursed.

Training for new volunteers will be held on Monday, January 27. For further information please contact Lucy Sams, Carers Centre Manager on 023 8090 2404.
