WINCHESTER news agents will be saying goodbye to their loyal customers when they retire on Saturday.

Teresa and Barry Moorhouse, who have been running Bridge Street Newsagents for the last 13 years, are passing on the torch after three decades in the industry.

The couple, who now live in Totton, have celebrated a long-standing history in the business, with Mr Moorhouse starting at Stannards newsagent in Winnall aged just 24.

Mr Moorhouse, 54, who was born and bred in Otterbourne and Mrs Moorhouse, 56, born in Weeke, have confirmed they will be selling the business.

Mrs Moorhouse said: “Over the last few months we’ve had a lot of bereavement in the family and we feel that it’s just time to spend some quality time with other.

“When you work seven days a week you tend to put things like holidays and family time on the back burner a bit so next year we are going to go on a cruise after we have spent some time with my sister and sorted ourselves a little.

“Saying goodbye to the job won’t be easy and saying goodbye to our customers will be the hardest part but it’s time for us now.”
