POLICE investigating Monday’s (February 17) fatal road traffic collision on Yokesford Hill, Romsey have named the driver who died.
Margaret Stone, 75, from Leckford, near Stockbridge, was travelling from Romsey towards Stockbridge, when her blue Vauxhall Meriva collided with a refuse lorry between Bunny Lane and Jinny's Lane. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Paying tribute, her family issued this statement: "Margaret was full of life and was always an active member of her community, from her early days in the Girl's Brigade, through to her time as Akela in the Scouting movement, and as a volunteer at Cherry Orchard care home in Andover.
“With her husband of 44 years, Michael, she was a keen member of churches in Leckford and Romsey, the support they received from these communities was brilliant and valued.
“Since losing Michael five years ago, Margaret had been making a new life for herself and was in the process of moving to Romsey. She loved travel and enjoyed good food and quality time with friends and family and will be sorely missed by the many people whose lives she touched."
