SOME 80 classic and sports cars headed for the Sir Harold Hillier Gardens near Romsey to take part in the Winchester MG Owners Club annual Cobweb Spin on Sunday (Mar2).

An open invitation to all marques resulted in a mix that included Daimler, Austin-Healey, Porsche, Bentley and Austin cars.

MG were very much in evidence of course and, despite the gloomy weather, other MG clubs from the region arrived in convoys from Basingstoke, Bournemouth, Solent, Chichester and Blackmore Vale in Dorset.

The Mayor and Mayoress of Winchester Ernie and Barbara Jeffs visited the event, meeting club members and taking a keen interest in the cars on display.

On entry to the gardens, public visitors were greeted by a representative display of MGs old and new before being directed towards the main event which was held at Jermyn’s House.

Club members who were on hand throughout to guide visitors and answer questions were pleased by the amount of interest that the cars generated.

This was the second year that Hillier Gardens and Winchester MG Owners Club have teamed up to put on this event.
