WITH its charming streets and historic architecture, Winchester seems to offer its visitors something special.

Now in its fifth year of sponsorship with the Business Improvement District (BID), Winchester tourist guides has launched their latest leaflet.

It boasts a wide selection of tours around England’s ancient capital for both residents and visitors.

The guide includes trips throughout the year, including themed tours for Halloween, Christmas, or a look at the Chesil Railway and Abbey House for those interested in the city’s history, and has launched just in time for two free tours during English Tourism Week.

Colin Cook, marketing officer for the Winchester Area Tourist Guides Association, said he was pleased about the launch of the new guide.

He said: “It’s with the BID’s support, and the tourism office is great. They display our leaflets and we have seen an improvement of people coming on our tours. It’s what people like to do when they come and visit.”

Winchester BID Manager, Catherine Turness, said: “Winchester BID is very pleased to continue its support for Winchester's Tourist Guides and acknowledge their contribution in encouraging visitors and residents alike, to spend more time in the city and to appreciate why it is such a special place, for its heritage, culture, shops and entertainment.”

On Saturday March 29 at 3pm, and Saturday April 5 at 3pm, there will be a free guided tour of the city for locals who think it is time to discover the rich history of the city they call home.
