ROADWORKS at Colden Common are due to restart after a delay of several weeks caused by the floods.
Southern Water’s mains replacement scheme in Main Road is due to restart on April 7 which will involve a temporary road closure between Church Lane and Scotts Close.
The closure will result in a 1.4km local diversion directing traffic along Church Lane, Brambridge and Highbridge Lane.
Temporary traffic lights will be put in at the junction of Main Road and Portsmouth Road and will be manually controlled during peak times to minimise the disruption.
Project manager Peter Simmons said: “While we’ve completed the majority of this important project, we need to return to put the finishing touches to the work, including cleansing the pipe.
“The route will be partially closed but it’s very much business as usual for nearby attractions and businesses, particularly as we’re now entering spring.
“While we expect the impact to be far less than in January, visitors travelling to Marwell Zoo and other businesses via Colden Common should still leave extra time for their journeys.”
Contractor Clancy Docwra will be working seven days a week and work is expected to be completed by April 21.
The works to replace 1.2km of ageing water mains started in September but work was suspended on February 10 due to extensive flooding in the area.
