A 16-year-old girl was walking along a pathway from Falkland Road to Magpie Lane in the town at around 3pm on Monday March 3 when an unknown man approached and grabbed her, demanding she hug him.

PC Sarah Slater said: “The young girl was scared by what happened but thankfully she was not indecently assaulted.

“She’s told us that at the time of the incident there were a number of people walking in both directions. If you recognise this man, or saw a distressed young girl, please contact us.”

The man is described as white, in his mid 20s, 5ft 7, of a thin build with slightly wavy blonde/brown short hair.
