A NEW treasure trove has opened in Winchester offering everything vintage from homewares to clothes and jewellery.

The Consortium on Jewry Street was opened to customers earlier this month by businesswoman Mary Robinson who has been running her business from a shop in Romsey for over 20 years.

The Winchester site contains three businesses across three floors including concessions Lilies and Lavender, run by Penny Powell, and the Mint Tea Boutique, run by Becky Hopkins.

Ms Robinson said: “The shop in Romsey is just us and we’ve been there for 24 years now. We sell vintage, retro, painted and industrial furniture and a lot of homewares but here we have the concessions as well.

“It’s just such a lovely space and having three different businesses means people want to spend more time here. We had a couple of people in just last week who spent a good half an hour just wondering around taking it all in – simply because there’s so much to see here.”

Mrs Hopkins, who has been running her business for four years, was reliant upon bookings and stalls before this opportunity came up.

“We have always done home parties so this is our first time in a shop and I just love it,” she said. “It’s nice to have some space; it really feels like home. Clothes have been selling amazingly well and no one around here sells this type of thing; people have told us that Winchester has been crying out for it.”
