Winchester charity says farewell to staff members after cuts force employee reshuffle

WINCHESTER Area Community Action (WACA) has bade farewell to two senior staff members.

The extensive restructuring and cost-cutting programme, sparked by changes to the way the charitable sector is funded, will see WACA move from its current offices at Winchester City Council to rooms at the Discovery and Brooks centres in July, and reshuffle its staff.

Both chief executive Paul Williams and his deputy Elizabeth McKerracher are leaving, as well as person centred planner Caroline Tiza.

A leaving lunch was held on Monday, and trustee chairman Trevor Lewis has stressed that the support the organisation currently provides to more than 230 charities will continue.

“When Paul joined WACA in 2009, the role of CEO was different to the role today,” he said.

“There will be a change in our structure but we will be delivering proactive services to all our members, large and small, as we always have.”
