ROYAL Air Force personnel have been getting their fingers green by helping with a Winchester youth group’s landscaping project.
Ten RAF officers from the Defence College of Logistics and Policing Administration at Worthy Down helped with the project at the King Alfred Youth Activity Centre (KAYAC) in Winnall.
The outdoor area of the centre, which works with young people aged eight to 17, was in much need of renovation, after becoming completely overgrown and unsafe for outdoor activities.
Officers gave up 40 hours of their time to help clear and prepare the area that will soon become a landscaped garden.
Flying Officer, Danny Benn, said: “It was a wonderful day in the sun, working up a sweat and giving something back to the community.”
Once complete, the area will include an outside seating area, and allow the children to manage and maintain the garden.
Youth Options is a charity that supports children and young people through information and education, and has been active in Winchester for over 60 years.
