A WINCHESTER couple are on a mission to give history a facelift.

Former accountant, Chris Hobbs, aged 26, and his girlfriend Claire O’Brien, 28, have started History Bombs, which aims to re-tell historical events in videos of under five minutes, featuring actors in costume.

The pilot episode on the history of aviation has been released, and Headbourne Worthy based Mr Hobbs said they need to raise £6,000 to film the first series.

It would cover anything from the Stone Age to present day.

The Edinburgh University graduate said he has always been interested in video production, and thinks the videos could help people get a basic grasp of events.

“I think it is a subject in need of a bit of a facelift and a make-over,” he said.

“Whilst history teachers do a great job, I feel that sometimes it would be great if we could do that within a few minutes and give people a basic overview of any given subject. If we could do that in an interesting and engaging way it would be very powerful. We might be able to do something that is not currently available.”

The couple are running a crowd funding campaign, where people can donate money online to help the business grow, and have attracted interest from major television producers.

Mr Hobbs said: “We are really looking forward to getting underway and filming the first series of videos. We have had a few discussions with people like CBBC.”
