A Hampshire artist has designed a commemorative prayer card to celebrate the role of Winchester Cathedral during the First World War.

Caroline Hervey-Bathurst has designed special prayer cards which will be handed out during a cathedral tour.

The tour explores how Winchester Cathedral was used during the First World War and the card includes a prayer for peace and Laurence Binyon’s poem For the Fallen.

Canon Roly said: “The centenary of the start of the First World War gives the Country a chance to re-evaluate and remember. Cathedrals seem extremely significant places in which to commemorate an event of the scale and impact. We are very grateful to Caroline for all her hard work.”

The tour is on the last Friday of every month from June until October, and then again on Friday November 14, from 2 – 4pm.

Tickets cost £10 including tea and cake and can be booked from the Cathedral Box Office on 01962 857 275 and online at winchester-cathedral.org.uk.
