Would happily get the bus to work from Colden Common, but forget evening running - the last bus of the day gets home at 6 PM. This service is suitable only for pensioners making day trips to Winchester, so no wonder they think they can cut evening timetables.
You've hit the nail right on the head there. When using concessionary travel cards, bus companies receive about 40p regardless of journey length.

This is the reason that the old Southampton-Portsmou
th bus was cut a few years ago- it was always packed to bursting, but because nobody was actually paying full fare the bus company were actually losing money on it.

But a thought for the people of Colden Common- USE IT OR LOSE IT!!

Incidentally, that picture seems to be of a Bluestar bus service 2, Southampton to Eastleigh & Fair Oak which as I recall goes nowhere near Colden Common. Bus E1 certainly does, but surely E2 doesn't go there either? It goes through Otterbourne instead."

Colden Common bus services maybe axed due to county cuts

Andover Advertiser: The Brijan number 8 and the E1 and E2, which all serve the village, will be reviewed as the county council aims to save between £1.25 and £1.5m The Brijan number 8 and the E1 and E2, which all serve the village, will be reviewed as the county council aims to save between £1.25 and £1.5m

BUS services in Colden Common could be scrapped in a bid to save money by Hampshire County Council.

The Brijan number 8 and the E1 and E2, which all serve the village, will be reviewed as the county council aims to save between £1.25 and £1.5m from public and transport spending.

The council aims to do this by 2015/16.

Passenger Transport Services believe there are a number of options to be considered including the reduction of Sunday services, services after 7pm and service frequencies.

A consultation is currently in place giving residents the chance to voice their opinions and an online survey can be completed by visiting survey.hants.gov.uk/consultation2014individuals.htm.

Alternatively the community centre will have paper versions and these can be submitted directly to the parish clerk or office.
