A WINCHESTER community centre has received a cash boost for vital refurbishments that will secure its future for the next 20 years.
Winnall Community Association has secured a £12,500 grant from Hampshire County Council towards the cost of replacing its ageing and leaky roof.
It was awarded from the community buildings and capital fund, which aims to make sure residents have access to high quality community facilities.
The association also received £63,005 from Veolia Environmental trust towards the £81,000 total needed.
Cllr Keith Chapman, Executive Member for Culture, Recreation and Countryside, said: “The scheme will re-use and recycle products wherever possible, including the gutters and pipes. The aim is to improve the community centre’s sustainability by improving energy efficiency, lowering its energy bills and carbon footprint, making it a warmer, more comfortable space for all users.”
