CHILDREN at a Winchester school have been learning about the importance of being green by taking part in their own recycling venture.
In a bid to become more sustainable children and teachers at Osborne School have been gathering plastic bottles to build their own greenhouse.
It is hoped they will be able to grow sufficient fruit and vegetables to serve in the school canteen.
The children were helped by employees from Osborne Property Services as part of the school’s initiative to help children learn about planning and teamwork skills.
Neal Allison, community investment manager, said: “It’s a brilliant service, with great people and sustainable relationships. We’ve managed to roll all of these into a really innovative project.
“It’s wonderful to have delivered a project which has involved upcycling rubbish to provide a useful facility for the school and in which the pupils, staff and parents have participated so enthusiastically.”
