CHERITON-based Cherry Tree Pre-School has completed of its new garden with the help of Alresford Rotary.

The pre-school opened the doors on the Cheriton Recreation Ground in April 2013 and the garden soon became the charity’s next big project.

Stage one was designed and implemented by local garden designer and parent of one of the pre-school’s pupils, Richard Townsend, of Richard Townsend Landscape Design.

Stage two was implemented by a group of 14 members of Alresford Rotary, constructing timber structures and pathways through the garden.

Mark Porter, from Alresford Rotary, said: “It is already evident from seeing the children use the new outdoor space for both play and learning, that safe exposure to learning outdoors and to growing and nurturing plants brings out a genuinely natural happiness in them. It’s a pleasure seeing them all enjoy it so much.”

Lucy Cutler, chair of Cherry Tree Pre-school, said: “We would like to thank both Richard Townsend and Alresford Rotary for their immense support and hard work. It was always our goal to provide a building and garden to match the excellence of our staff and service and we are delighted that this has now been achieved.”
