A WINCHESTER charity is calling forward all budding bakers to help raise funds for people with dementia.
Age Concern Hampshire hs organised a week-long Good Old Fashioned Tea Party to be held from September 8-14 in a bid to raise money and awareness of the disease.
There will also be a chance to win afternoon tea for two at Lainston House in Sparsholt.
Executive chef Andrew MacKenzie will award a prize for the most imaginatively decorated cake, with photos of cakes to be submitted along with donations.
He said: “It's a real honour to be asked to judge this competition which is raising money for such a worthwhile cause. I am really looking forward to looking through the photographs from all the budding bakers.”
Fundraising manager Jemma Saunders said: “We are calling on people to get together and make a difference to the lives of older people across Hampshire. Exchanging memories of times gone by with family and friends is enjoyable for everyone, but is especially beneficial for people with dementia. Cake sales, sponsored tea-making at work and tea parties at home will all help to raise much needed funds for our work.”
