LADIES from a village near Winchester will be getting on their bike to raise money for a good cause this weekend.

On Sunday (September 7) 17 women from Twyford will be cycling the Doitforcharity London to Brighton Cycle in a bid to raise money for Percy’s Pals.

Following the success of the men’s ride from Land’s End to John O’Groats in June, which raised around £65,000, the ladies are more geared up than ever and hope to raise even more money in their 54-mile challenge.

Since November 2013 Percy’s Pals have raised £107,000 – a huge chunk of the £250,000 target to buy a portable CT brain scanner for the Wessex Neurological Intensive Treatment Unit at Southampton General Hospital.

Percy’s Pal Vicki Dunlop said: “This scanner is an essential piece of equipment which will enable early diagnosis and treatment of strokes and other neurological conditions.

“It is estimated to help an estimated three million people, young and old, in the South of England should they have an accident involving a brain injury.”
