THREE high-flyers at a Winchester adult education centre have been accepted onto prestigious university courses.

Danielle O’Regan, Tanya Brown and Suna Roffey are among 83 students who have completed courses at Peter Symonds Access to Higher Education for adults.

Tanya Brown, of St Mary Bourne, has been accepted into Lucy Cavendish College, Cambridge, to study psychology.

She said: “I didn't take advantage of the opportunities at school and subsequently left with disappointing results and an unfulfilled dream of going to university. When I went to Peter Symonds Adult & Higher Education division I knew this was my second chance and consequently aimed as high as possible.”

Suna Roffey, 43, has been accepted onto Bournemouth University’s master’s course in midwifery.

She said: “I'm so excited about becoming a midwife; it’s a dream I've carried around for a long time.

“The Access course has been a wonderful and intense nine months of study and hard work and it has given me the opportunity and support to make a total career change into the midwifery profession. “ Danielle O’Regan, of Leigh Road, Eastleigh, will also study midwifery in Bournemouth on their undergraduate course. The 34-year-old achieved four distinctions in her Access subjects and won the Star Access Student 2014 award.

Peter Symonds’ Access programme aims to provide adults with an alternative route into higher education through full or part-time tuition.
