A WINCHESTER community project is to hold a memorial for fallen soldiers of the First World War.
The Hyde 900 Hyde Soldiers exhibition opens with a private view tomorrow, including poetry, song and fireworks.
Six soldiers from the area died before the end of November 1914, plus a further 60 until the conflict ended in 1918.
The evening will be coordinated by Nigel Bradshaw, and Mayor of Winchester Cllr Eileen Berry, Steve Brine MP and senior military figures will be present.
It comes as part of the group’s King Alfred Weekend Celebration, which commemorates the 1115th anniversary of his death on October 26.
Hyde Soldiers runs from October 25-26.
