POLICE are warning about a scam claiming to sell advertising in emergency services publications.
Two people have informed police of bogus calls from someone claiming to sell advertising space in Frontline – an internal police magazine.
A spokesperson for Hampshire Constabulary said: “Currently Hampshire Constabulary is not using any third party to sell advertising space and would not cold call businesses or individuals to do so.”
Just days later the force warned residents about bogus callers claiming to work for a county court and asking for money that forms a court debt.
The statement said: “It's likely to be a scam unless you have received official correspondence from a court prior to the call. We'd advise terminating the call and not giving out any personal information.”
Anyone with information or that has been affected should call police on 101, or the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555111, to be anonymous.
