IT is not quite Milan or Paris, but Winchester Fashion Week climaxed with a slick catwalk show.

The week-long annual event, now in its fifth year, highlights the latest High Street fashions as well as giving a platform to the work of Winchester School of Arts students.

The Bapsy Hall at the Guildhall was packed with around 220 people on Saturday to enjoy two shows with professional and local models strutting along the 20-yard catwalk under the dazzling lights.

Most of the clothes were from the stores’ spring and summer collections but there were also the more daring creations from the art students.

Around the hall were stands from local shops to help create a buzz about the event.

The show was organised by the Winchester Business Improvement District (BID) and staged by local firm C Me Productions.

The week’s main sponsor was the University of Winchester and partners Hampshire Life, Hotel du Vin and the Independent Holiday Shop.

Catherine Turness, BID manager, said: “We were delighted. We definitely want to do it again next year.

“The show has had good feedback. It was a really slick production and the retailers were pleased with how their clothes were showcased. The models have been involved since we got involved in 2013. They loved the brands and we had a lot of tweets from them.

“The BID has never been able to get the School of Art students involved previously. It is something we are really keen to do. It would nice to build up that for next year.”

The event raised £400 from the YMCA at Fairthorne Manor.
