SHE proved that cancer is the one that can jog on, Michael Carr writes.

Despite suffering from cancer mum-of-three Ali Henderson from King's Somborne she still had the strength to do a 13.1 mile half marathon and cross the line in style.

The 45-year-old took on the Clarendon half marathon – just two weeks after recovering from radiotherapy.

Mrs Henderson was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer in January, and has since undergone chemotherapy, a mastectomy and radiotherapy.

She took the half marathon on last year – and despite having cancer, her time this year at two hours 51 minutes was only 20 minutes more than her 2014 time.

She had the support from her friend Sarah Litton who ran the race with her.

Mrs Henderson , said:“I wanted to show that cancer can dog on, and show people that cancer does not have to take over your life, you have to try and own it and give it what for.

“It was brilliant when I crossed the line, I was so pleased, especially after I struggled and fell over at mile six, but carried on. People were cheering me on it was really good and I enjoyed it.”

“Cancer has made me very much more active and made me appreciate the things in life and making the most of every minute you have got.”

Mrs Henderson said she hopes she will get told that she is in remission in November and wants to inspire others, who are going through the same or similar treatment and to raise valuable funds for Cancer Research UK Mrs Henderson “Cancer has made me very much more active and made me appreciate the things in life and making the most of every minute you have got.”

So far she has raised £785 from taking on the half marathon and hopes that figure will increase, to donate visit her Justgiving page.
