WINCHESTER hasbeen abuzz all week with the annual ritual of university graduation.

More than 2,000 students officially graduated in ceremonies from Tuesday at Winchester Cathedral. The final one will be tomorrow.

The students, with their proud parents and families, have been crowding into the city centre before and after the rite of passage.

For the first and probably the last time they were wearing gowns and mortar boards.

The ceremonies have been overseen by the Chancellor Alan Titchmarsh and vice-chancellor Prof Joy Carter.
