EMERGENCY services carried out an operation at Winchester Railway Station in response to reports of concern for a woman’s welfare.
A member of the public said: “The police have closed off Clifton terrace. I can the lady sitting on the parapet and couple of officers talking to her. The train station too looks closed off.”
A spokeswoman for British Transport Police said its officers were sent to the scene after a call was made at 11.34am.
The spokewoman confirmed that the woman was brought down from the bridge shortly before 4.30pm.
The exact nature of the incident on Clifton Terrace is not known, but reports on social media said there were three ambulances and two police cars at the scene.
Police had taped off the bridge leading to the railway station at around 2.30pm.
A South West Trains spokesman said: “We are currently experiencing minor delays to services through this area."
