THE work of Hampshire volunteers and community groups has recently been recognised.
In total 21 High Sheriff awards have been presented to individuals and community groups and organisations for their work in the community.
Recipients were announced by the High Sheriff of Hampshire Mr Tom Floyd in the Great Hall in Winchester on March 15.
The awards aim to recognise the work of volunteers and community groups based in Hampshire who make a significant contribution to society, with a particular emphasis on safety and cohesion in the community.
The successful nominees included the Round About Café in Southampton; Hythe Youth Club and Volunteers; Hampshire Community Court in Fareham; New Help the Homeless in Southampton; Charlie Wright & Vivienne Wheeler from Friends of the Family in Winchester and Gosport and Fareham Inshore Rescue Service (GAFIRS).
Nathan Jones, Terry Bicknell and Oliver McDermott received the court reward.
