A WOMAN has been jailed for trying to pass counterfeit banknotes in Winchester.
Katie Stuart, 38, of Plumstead, south-east London, was arrested on April 10, a court heard.
She admitted trying to pass bogus £50 Bank of Scotland notes.
The magistrates said the offences was serious because it was vital to preserve trust in the currency system and Stuart had a previous conviction.
She was jailed for 20 weeks but was due to be released immediately because of time already served in detention.
Stuart was also ordered to pay a £115 victim surcharge.
