A 'BELOVED son and brother' was killed in a late-night motorway crash after stopping to talk to police.

Nathan Sedgewicke, 41, died on the M3 after being struck by at least one vehicle.

Hampshire Constabulary are investigating the incident, which happened between junctions 12 and 13 at about 1am on Sunday, September 10, after it has been referred to police watchdog, the IPCC.

His family said: "Nathan was a beloved son and brother who put a smile on everyone's face with his quick wit and humour.

"He was extremely kind and will be missed by everyone who loved and knew him."

Hampshire Constabulary closed the motorway for almost seven hours following the incident, and has so far refused to say if Mr Sedgewicke, who lived at Hempson Avenue, Slough, was being chased or followed by officers when he pulled over.

An Independent Police Complaints Commission spokesman told the Daily Echo: “Any death or serious injury following contact with police has to be referred to us by law."

A spokesman later said that it was deemed suitable for the incident to be investigated by Hampshire Constabulary.

Anyone who saw the accident can call police on 101, quoting Operation Building or crime reference number 44170350566.
