CHILDREN from a Winchester school contributed to a very special remembrance art installation.

Pupils at Stanmore School created flowers of remembrance that formed a tribute to children who have died during war and conflict.

The St. Luke’s Remembers project, held over the Remembrance Weekend, proved to be a resounding success as people of all ages descended on St Luke’s Church in Winchester to view the installation of more than 2,000 flowers.

On Remembrance Sunday, St Luke’s was full for the annual service, which started with a parade of standards from the uniformed organisations and more than 70 young people, as well as more than 130 adults from the local community and further afield.

During the service, parishioner Kay Hassell gave a talk to the young people about her uncle who was a padre in the Second World War.

He was killed in action, but received the George Medal for his courage and support for others.

Cllr Martin Tod also gave a reading during the service.
