A WINCHESTER charity welcomed the Lord-Lieutenant of Hampshire for a visit.

Friends of the Family was visited by Nigel Atkinson Esq, who wanted to find out more about their valuable work in the community.

The Lord-Lieutenant met staff and trustees at the charity’s headquarters in Colebrook Street and learnt more about the charity’s work offering confidential support and advice to vulnerable families across Winchester for over 20 years.

He also spent time with the Under 5’s mother and baby group, which provides a safe space for mothers to share their issues, where he chatted with the mums and volunteers.

Mr Atkinson said: “I was delighted to have the opportunity to visit Friends of the Family and was hugely impressed with the amazing work they do on behalf of vulnerable families in Winchester.”

Chair of Trustees, Viv Wheeler, said: “It was wonderful to meet the Lord-Lieutenant and to discuss the specialised projects that we run. We value the time he spent with us hearing about the families we help.”
