AN elderly woman died as a result of a tripping over a rug.

Winchester Coroner’s Court heard how Sara Frisby, 82, hit her head in the hallway of her home in Longstock.

A report from GP Dr Ed Gibbons said she had a history of dementia and poor mobility and could only move with the aid of a Zimmer frame.

Carer Jean Clarke said that she found Mrs Frisby unconscious on the evening of February 24.

“She had fallen in the hallway after getting up to go to the toilet after a brief time she came to and said I just want to go back to bed. By the time the first responder arrived she had become very quiet.”

Mrs Frisby slipped out of conciousness while being taken to Southampton General Hospital where scans revealed that she had suffered an untreatable bleed on the brain. She was given end of life care and passed away the next day.

Coroner Grahame Short concluded that Mrs Frisby’s death was accidental.
